## Condition
### Summary
- I have developmental dysplasia of the hip, also likely causing subluxation.
- I also have a shortened femoral neck and unusual head shape across both femurs and a deeper left hip socket (acetabulum)
- this is causing osteoarthritis in the hips (hip degeneration)
- This has already caused a labral tear with a cyst in my right hip.

## Treatments
- [[Periacetabular Osteotomy (PAO)]]
- [[total hip replacement or arthroplasty (THA)]]
THA is only option if there has been moderate to significant arthritis, ie if the Tönnis grade ≥2
THA is problematic not just because they don't last as long, but because [[revision THA surgeries are harder and less durable than primary replacements]].
