[[University of Salford Students’ Union]]'s approach to its Human Resources is detailed in our [[People Plan]]. We also have a separate Wellbeing Plan.
We have a HR and Admin Manager and also engage [Atkinsons HR](https://www.atkinsonhrconsulting.co.uk) as consultants/ a virtual Director of HR. One member of USSU [[Senior Leadership Team|SLT]] is the designated HR lead.
In 2022 we completed a pay review for all staff.
We have taken a positive approach to addressing the [[Staff Cost of Living Crisis 2022-23]]
Our approach to HR also informs, and is informed by, our [[Grow Salford SU Leadership and Culture]].
We survey our staff on their engagement with their work biannually. The [[2021 Staff Engagement Survey results]] were very impressive, yet still had room for improvement. The [[Staff Engagement Report 2023]] demonstrated a whole host of improvement, but we still need to focus on learning and development, as well as understand perceptions of SLT, as this has dropped since 2021.
We provide an increment to staff on the pay scale every April and a Cost of Living increase every August. The latter is set with a view to the University's cost of living increase, and we generally try to match that.
