## The Basics
When making decisions for your charity, you and the other trustees must:
- act within your powers (see also the [[students as students]] test)
- act in good faith and only in the interests of the charity
- make sure you are sufficiently informed
- take account of all relevant factors
- ignore any irrelevant factors
- manage conflicts of interest
- make decisions that are within the range of decisions that a reasonable trustee body could make

- Delegation of decision making authority is absolutely fine
- The aim is for the trustees to *make or take* decisions, not for them to be put off.
- External professional advice can be costly but bring them in for cheaper through partnerships and external trustees. Bring in more if there is particular
